With a focus on improving bikeway access and expanding the bicycling network, a protected bike lane design on North Main between Boundary and Pecore is currently in progress.
Identified as a priority by the Near Northside Complete Communities Action Plan, Council Member Karla Cisneros of District H and Houston Public Works have worked together to secure the funding needed in order to meet the mobility and infrastructure goal. The scope of the design plan includes a roadway layout with bike lanes, signage, and pavement markings. Anticipated design completion is Winter 2020, with construction beginning in early Spring 2021.
Related transportation projects and plans in the area includes the North Houston Highway Improvement Project and Houston's Vision Zero Action Plan.
