The Houston Bikeways Program is a collaborative effort to improve safety, accessibility, ridership and maintenance of bike facilities in Houston. The program initially began as an internal partnership between the City of Houston’s Planning & Development, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation departments during the Houston Bike Plan process. It has now evolved to include many other internal city departments and several external organizations. Each organization plays a critical role in ensuring Houston achieves its vision of becoming a safer, more accessible Gold level bike-friendly community.
Bike Plan implementation would not be possible without our partners who provide the coordination, research, guidance and funding necessary to build out our high-comfort bikeway network. Our partners also help us develop supporting policies, plans and programs. We look forward to continuing the good work of making Houston safe and accessible for users of all ages and all abilities.
